The Grocery Commerce Challenge
Without a connected digital storefront, customers were limited to in-person shopping for everyday groceries and specialty items. The business needed product discovery, ordering, payments, delivery coordination and operational control in one system rather than disconnected workflows.
Engineering also had to keep order state synchronized across customer, driver and admin surfaces so shoppers, delivery partners and store operators saw the same progress as orders moved from placement to delivery.

Challenge
Order status had to stay in sync across three separate apps at once. A change on the driver app needed to reach the customer app and the admin dashboard quickly, over inconsistent mobile networks, without shoppers seeing a stale order state.
Technical decision
Build customer and driver surfaces on a shared React Native codebase, run operations on a React.js admin website, and connect all three through a Node.js order and dispatch backend.
Outcome
